002. This Week Lottie Loves... FESTIVE EDITION!

Magical, Neuschwanstein Castle, Bavaria, Germany....inspired Walt Disneys vision for Palace in Cinderella - from my pinterest

- ITS CHRISTMAAAAAAAAAS...nearly! I am feeling very festive now! The tree is up, the presents are wrapped (except SOMEONE hasn't wrapped mine yet!) and my stomach is prepared for a feast of Christmas goodness... Which brings me nicely on to the next one...

- Christmas parties and get togethers! Today I'm at lunch with my current team (3 courses including a white chocolate and raspberry cheese cake!) then tonight I am meeting my new team for a Vegas themed night. Tomorrow we are seeing Sams's family and some family friends for a Christmas meal and Sunday all my family are getting together (Christmas quiz time!)

- A non Christmassy one now... WEDDING PLANNING!!! We have booked to see a couple of possible venues and potentially got ourselves a rather lovely photographer sorted

- Getting as much wear out of my Christmas jumper as possible

- The excitment that 2014 is going to bring... a new job, a wedding, a honeymoon... I can't wait!

- Planning to watch Christmas films... Due to my change in jobs I finish work on Friday and don't start my new job until 2nd January, this gives me a lot of time next week while Sam's at work to watch Christmas films! I will be watching Home Alone, Elf and Love Actually!

Not loving so much this week...

- My stupid bad back which means a doctors appointment next week... eating in to valuable Christmas film watching time!

- How it's not cold... please can we have a bit of cold bright weather and some snow maybe?!

002. Wedding Plans: Colours

I've been thinking a lot about what colours I would like in our wedding. I would like to have some sort of theme throughout so that everything coordinates. Here are a few ideas that I really like...

Blush Pink and Sage Green

Autumn Oranges and Sky Blues

Minty blues and greens

Blush and Neutrals

Duck Egg and Peach

Autumnal Brights

Peach and Mint Green

As you can see I lean towards pretty pastels with a tinge of neutral!
All these and more can be found on my Pinterest board... HERE!

001. Wedding Plans: Things To Make To Decorate

I've always wanted to have quite a lot of control over my wedding (sounding a bit Bridezilla-ish but I'm not! Promise!!!) especially in terms of decoration. I've taken to Pinterest in order to get some inspiration of how I would like my venue to be decorated. I'm not fussed on having huge fancy (expensive!) bouquets of flowers I'd rather have candles, glitter globes, jars and anything else homemade I can think of.

I thought I would share a few of the ideas I have found (and pinned HERE) so far...

To make the top table stand out a little bit more (and look so pretty) use icicle christmas lights to hang around it

Glitter Vase.. what you fill it with would depend on your theme.. for example if you were having a winter wedding you could fill with white spray painted twigs

Glitter Globes! Again what you put in it could relate to your theme/colour scheme.

Using lace and old (clean) jam jars to make beautiful candle holders. Putting candles on a mirror always looks good as well.

Glitter Stars, could be used to decorate the top table or on the walls around the room with lots of fairy lights. So sparkly!

More jam jar ideas.. this is so simple but so pretty. You could use coloured water to match your them and coloured candles and ribbon too.

Heart Bunting... well bunting in general.. there's so many options in terms of size, colour, style. Bunting will suit any occasion!

All these have come from my Pinterest so if you want to know how head over and you will find tutorials!

If I make any of these I will try to post tutorials or photos of how it looks.

I plan to doa  few more ot these posts over the next few weeks, and hopefully in the new year I will have some actual wedding plans to share!

I could have danced all night...

When I was 2 my parents decided to send me to Ballet classes. I started to work my way through the grades and attend classes for other dance styles such as Tap and Modern. I also took in interest in drama and musical theatre. I saw lots of ballets and musicals with my family and studied performing arts at college. Within that I studied loads of dance styles, like Jazz, African, Latin, Musical Theatre Dance and Contemporary. Dance was a huge huge part of my life.

During my gap year I decided I wanted to be a dance teacher so I applied to university and got an interview at my top choice. The day of the interview came and Mum and I battled through heavy snow to get there, not even knowing if the interview was still going ahead. At one point we thought we were going to meet a nasty end (dangerous taxi driver!). I had my interview and showed a dance and got my place.
I started that September and lasted 2 weeks. I decided that university was not for me. It’s not for everyone (remember that all you GCSE/A Level students… you don’t HAVE to go to uni whatever your school/college say!) so I dropped out and did a business admin apprenticeship (and at 21 – 6 moths after finishing my apprenticeship -bought a house so its not all bad!). When I dropped out of university I stopped dancing completely, I couldn’t bring myself to go back.

In January this year I went to see Phantom of the Opera, which has a lot of ballet in. Someone I was with said to me ‘why don’t you go back?’ So I did! And I am so glad that I did!
I did my research about adult classes, I decided I wanted to start completely afresh at a new school that I hadn’t been to before. I hopped on google and found myself a class to go a long to. A week or so later I was back at the barre, a few weeks after that I was back ‘en pointe’ and then in July this year I was in my first show in 5 years. I absolutely loved it… I even got roped in to being in a tap number and did an extra ballet dance with some of the younger students.

me in costume this year!
Not only have I enjoyed dancing again but I have also made a great group of friends… we call ourselves ‘Bunheads’. We have meals out together or dinner parties at each others houses and have been to see the Nutcracker this year and are planning lots more gatherings together!

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

On Friday night I FINALLY got to see The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. I say finally because since I read the books and saw the first film I have been waiting for this to come out and I was not disappointed.

I definitely joined in with the salute everytime

Having always been Team Gale, the second book/film has converted me. I still love you Gale but awww Peta.

Anyway… I was impressed by the film, the casting was great (there were a few people that looked different to how I pictured in my head… Beetee was way too cool but it worked!), the set and effects were amazing. HOWEVER, I felt there were 2 key parts of the book missing from the film. Now I don’t want to say too much and spoil it but both involve a Mockingjay, one involves Plutarch Heavensbee and the other some refugees.

It was interesting to talk to my brother after we watched the film as he hadn’t read the books like my mum and I (we kept pulling sad/happy/angry faces when we knew certain things were coming up) and he said it had all made perfect sense so maybe the bits I remembered from the books where not that key!

Jennifer Lawrence is fantastic as usual, I think she is absolutely perfect for Katniss and is such a good role model in real life. She makes me want to whip out a bow and arrow and go for a walk in the woods.

I’m so excited for the next book to be made in to a film – however I have just discovered that ‘Mockingjay’ will be in 2 parts! I will be interested to see at what point the story splits to make the 2 films.

Have you seen Catching Fire yet? What did you think?

001. This Week Lottie Loves...

Hello There!

I have decided to start a feature which I will aim to do once a week, probably on a Friday or Saturday which will tell you all the things that I love this week… after all that is the name of my blog J

Image from Pinterest
- Seeing ‘The Nutcracker’ for the second time this month, this time on ice. It was performed by ‘The Imperial Ice Stars’ and was absolutely fantastic. I found it quite stressful at times, especially when they threw the girl up in the air and you wondered if she would ever land again. Also it starred good old Keith Chegwin.. what more could you want!

- Seeing ‘The Hunger Games’ tonight! As you may know the trilogy are probably my favourite books therefore I am ridiculously excited!

- Having a crafty day with Phoebe tomorrow

- The lovely sunny but cold weather we are starting to have, its just lovely for wintery walks

- Finally making a start on my Christmas shopping! I’ve ordered a few bits and have planned a few other bits to get for people. I’ve also decided to make something for some lucky people so I’ve been secretly plotting too!

- Listening to Bastille on my way to work and getting excited about seeing them in March

- Lying in bed with Sam and Buddy and watching Modern Family. Seriously one of my favourite programmes, I literally can’t pick a favourite character and I kind of believe they are real…

- Covent Garden Soup Co fresh soup only £1 in Morrissons… Skinny Tomato & Vegetables with Lentil soup I am looking at you!

- Getting a new job!! OOOOOOH!

Things I’m not loving so much this week…

- Buddy’s new obsession with attacking himself in the mirror at 5.30 every morning!

- Going to work AND coming home in the dark… one of the good things about my new job is it is very close to home so I won’t have this problem any more!

- How worn out I got after jumping at Ballet last night.. MUST GET FIT!
